Best Coffee Shops on Maui: A Maui Photographer’s Local Favorites

Growing up on Maui gave me a deep love for the island’s coffee and as a Maui photographer, I get to explore it every day while heading to sessions. These are my top coffee picks :)

1. First Wave Coffee – Kahului

First Wave Coffee is definitely a favorite. It’s the sweetest family-owned coffee trailer, known for its rich, smooth coffee and beloved matcha. 2. Akamai Coffee – Kahului, Kihei & Wailea

Akamai Coffee is a locally-owned café with several spots around Maui. The Kahului and Kihei locations are convenient drive-throughs, perfect for grabbing a coffee on the go, while the Wailea location offers a cozy spot with food available. Their drinks are creative and delicious, and my personal favorite is the “S’mores on the Beach” — a white chocolate macadamia nut latte.

3. Choice Health Bar – Paia & Wailea

Choice Health Bar is a fresh, energizing spot perfect for smoothies, cold brews, and healthy bites. My absolute favorite is their avocado toast — simple, delicious, and full of flavor. As a Maui photographer, I love that it’s quick, refreshing, and keeps me fueled while getting ready for shoots.
